IN the late 1980’s, Flourgon had a number of hit songs, making him one of the period’s most successful deejays. He is hoping to reclaim some of that dominance with his new single, the self-produced You Got Me Talking.
The song is released on his Sweet Love Records imprint.
“I’m still recording, still doing shows overseas. I have a lot of shows in Europe this summer; I will be going on tour with Sanchez,” Flourgon told the Jamaica Observer.
At 51, he is confident he has what it takes to make an impact on the current dancehall landscape.

“After a while you have to come off the scene and gwaan hold the space,” he said.Born Michael May, Flourgon emerged on the music scene in the mid-1980’s. From the Red Hills Road area of St Andrew, he started out on hometown sound systems Rambo and later Crystal Disco.
His first song was 1986’s Big Batty Gal for producer Winston Riley’s Techniques label. It was a regional hit in the United Kingdom and opened doors for Flourgon there.
He later scored with We Run Tings, Count Out, Love Mi Lover Bad (featuring Sanchez) and Bounce.
Flourgon is from the White Hall Avenue section of Red Hills Road, an area which has produced a number of entertainers including his brother (the late) Red Dragon, Daddy Lizard, Sanchez and Terry Ganzie.
He was introduced to a new generation of fans in the late 1990’s when he appeared in popular television advertisements for Lasco Food Drink.
His son is upcoming dancehall artist Chad Hype.
“I believe he has what it takes to be a top artist. He has the talent,” said Flourgon.
