Popular dancehall artist Charly Black recently made a generous donation of $80,000 to the Rio Bueno All-Age School in Trelawny.

Black has always had the desire to give back, especially to the school in the community where he is from. He raised the funds back in 2015 through a concert that was organized with a line-up featuring artists like Bounty Killer, Jah Vinci, Singer J, Ryme Minster, Fanton Mojah, Interceptor Sound and others, on the Rio Bueno football field.

The successful artist recently saw the revival of his single Party Animal, which was released two years ago but recently picked up by Universal Music Latin Entertainment.

Charly Black said he has been constantly on tour and was only recently able to hand over the check to the faculty and students of the school to go towards the institution’s development.

He said he hopes to continue raising funds through his Charly Trelawny Black Foundation and is looking forward to giving back to his community again in the near future.

Charly Black was born in Rio Bueno, Trelawny, in 1980 and attended Rio Bueno Primary and High schools.

Principal Audrey Barrett expressed gratitude for Black’s act of charity. “We are absolutely delighted and appreciative of the donation,” she said, revealing that the donation will be used by the school to do well-needed renovation. “We are constantly in need of resources, but we’re thinking to use it to renovate our bathroom facilities which haven’t been improved in some time”

According to Barrett, Blacks is not the only past student who contributes to the school. “We have a very vibrant past student association, which constantly gives back to the school,” she added.
