The ‘Don Dada’, Super Cat, is the latest artist to be added to the line-up for the Reggae Night of Reggae Sumfest that is set to take place on July 23.

Joe Bogdanovich, chairman and CEO of Downsound Entertainment Limited, the holding company for Reggae Sumfest, believes that the addition of Super Cat to the line-up represents an injection of ‘class and tradition.’

“When it comes to Reggae Night, we have a real strong line-up. We are getting good responses internationally, especially [from] France and Germany,” Bogdanovich said.

Super Cat, also known as the ‘Wild Apache’, was one of the first local acts to make breakthrough in the United States market with hits such as Dolly My Baby, Nuff Man A Dead and Boops.

Commenting on the other major nights of the festival, Bogdanovich said, “I think the line-up on the Sound Explosion is very exciting, with the addition of Fire Links and Tony Matterhorn. I think it’s going to sell off.”

He continued: “The line-up for Dancehall Night is awesome. It’s going to be big, big, big, big! We are starting to develop momentum. It’s bringing reggae back into Jamaica in a strong way. I think it’s something people are starting to grasp.”

The transformed Reggae Sumfest kicks off in Montego Bay with a Beach Party at the Aqua Sol Theme Park on Sunday, July 17. The All-White Party hits Pier 1 on Tuesday, July 19; and the Sound Explosion with the island’s top sound systems takes place on July 21, also at Pier 1.

Dancehall Night revs up on the Friday at Catherine Hall, while Reggae Night closes the show on Saturday, July 23.

Super Cat last performed in Jamaica in December 2013 at Sting’s 30th Anniversary at Jamworld in Portmore, St Catherine.
