Contrary to information that has been popping up on various blogs and social media claiming that Buju Banton has received another discount on his prison sentence, official records indicate that the reggae superstar will remain locked up until 2018.

Rumors have been flying that the Gargamel is set for early release and could be sent home by next Christmas.

But the US Federal Bureau of Prisons indicated on its website yesterday that the artist is still slated to be released on December 8, 2018.

Buju, who is serving 10 years for drug-related charges, was initially set to be released in February 2019. He is serving time in CI MCRAE, which is a contracted correctional institution operated by a private corporation.
