The 2016 Kingston On The Edge (KOTE) Urban Arts Festival starts tomorrow at Redbones Blues Café in St Andrew.

The annual 10-day event showcases the visual and performing arts at various venues in the Corporate Area.

Opening night features veteran roots singer Winston McAnuff, French artiste Fixi, Jermaine Blake, and the Free Willies, Phuzzion and 6 Points bands.

There will also be the premiere of the Cuban documentary, La Rumba Me Llama, as well as an exhibition of paintings, photography and jewellry.

“We have 23 venues participating with 26 separate events and close to 200 visual and performing artists from 22 countries involved,” said Enola Williams, co-founder/coordinator of KOTE.

The event was launched in 2007 to highlight Kingston’s understated arts scene. Beatriz Pozueat, Carolyn Lazarus, Joaquin Portocarrero and Omar Francis are also co-founders.
