JOHANNESBURG – Reggae music in South Africa has seen a steady rise from the low-key days of Lucky Dube. The brains behind Lioness Productions, Fikile Makhalemele, has taken it in her stride to continually grow the visibility and access of this music genre.Her company has brought many reggae greats from around the world – at her own expense – to our shores so that reggae lovers can experience their favourite stars live.

Chronixx recently added to the bill of musicians and bands that her company has hosted.

The Jamaican reggae superstar recently performed in two major South African cities as he concluded his African tour which was handled by Lioness Productions.

eNCA caught up with Makhalemele after Chronixx’s performance in Walter Sisulu Square in Soweto to talk about reggae music in South Africa.
