VETERAN BAND CHALICE, WITH HELP OF SPECIAL FRIENDS, UPDATES SOME OF ITS CLASSIC HITS ON NEW ALBUM “A SONG!”

 Chalice—

Chalice has put new gloss on several of its hit songs with help from some popular artists. They can be heard on the album A Song, released July 8 by VPAL Music.

The set contains fresh versions of I’m Trying, done with Ernie Smith and SkyGrass;Good To Be There with Tarrus Riley; Cya Rub alongside Tanya Stephens; and Joy In The Morning, which they did with Ishabel.

“The project has been in the making for eight years, more or less. We deliberately did ‘collabs’ because we wanted Chalice to appeal to fans of the artists who so graciously appeared on this album and also introduce the newer artists to our fans,” said Wayne Armond, guitarist and founding member of Chalice. There are 14 songs on the set.

Chalice retains three original members, the others being keyboardist Ervin ‘Allah’ Lloyd and bass player Keith Francis. The band was formed in 1980 and hit that year with the ballad I Still Love You, which featured Armond on vocals. Later, chart-riders like Praise Him, Good To Be There and Revival Time had Robi Peart and Trevor Roper on vocals. Peart died last year; Roper passed away in 2013.

Keyboardist Michael Wallace, another original member, was murdered in 1999.

Dean Stephens (lead vocals), Donald Waugh (lead guitar), Jerome Tulloch (keyboards) and Patrick Anderson (drums) complete the current Chalice line-up.
