CHYNA NICOLE IS ON A HIGH WITH HER ALBUM “HIGHER!”

 Chyna Nicole—

Seven months after its release, Higher, the first album from singer Chyna Nicole, has done well on regional reggae charts in the United States.

Released in April by Nico Star Music, Higher has entered the Foundation Radio Network Top 20 Album Chart in New York City; South Florida Top 15 Reggae Chart and the USA iTunes Top 100 Reggae Album Chart.

“This is fantastic news. It’s like receiving an award because it acknowledges the hard work and collaborations with some of reggae’s best,” Chyna Nicole told the Jamaica Observer.

Producers and musicians who worked on the 15-track album include her father Carl Williams, Sly and Robbie, Dalton Browne, Lloyd Mullings, Paul ‘Computer Paul’ Henton, Franklyn ‘Bubbler’ Waul, Dean Fraser and Steven ‘Lenky’ Marsden.

Singers Yami Bolo, Chuck Turner, Althea Hamilton and Tabby Diamond (of the Mighty Diamonds) are featured on Higher.

Three songs — His Majesty Completes Me, Got To Be Thankful and the title track — made the Foundation Radio Network and South Florida Reggae charts.

Born Nicole Williams in Harlem, New York, Chyna Nicole was raised in Connecticut by her Jamaican parents. She is currently based in Queens, New York.

While residing in Jamaica between 2000 and 2004, she worked as a disc jockey at ZIP 103 FM, Irie FM and Mello FM.

Chyna Nicole made her recording debut in 1994 with the Carl Williams-produced Love Me Tenderly featuring Lukie D. She followed-up with Last Night, another Lukie D collaboration.
