ALKALINE TO REPORT TO THE POLICE THIS MORNING!

 Alkaline—

EMBATTLED deejay Alkaline is expected to report to Area Four Headquarters at Harman Barracks in Vineyard Town, Kingston, today at 9:00 am.

According to the Corporate Communications Unit (CCU), the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s information arm, an agreement was made between the police and Alkaline’s attorney, Peter Champagnie, at 3:00 pm yesterday.

Champagnie confirmed he had been retained by Alkaline, and that the deejay only learnt of the development through the media.

“He contacted me this (yesterday) morning and based on my schedule, we could not accommodate the meeting until tomorrow (today),” Champagnie told Jamaica Observer yesterday.

On Tuesday the CCU revealed that Alkaline was being sought for questioning in relation to the murder of Rohan Morris and was scheduled to report to Area Four HQ at Harman Barracks by latest 5:00 pm.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Devon Watkis, head of Area 4, said he was satisfied with the new arrangement.

“The police investigating have found it necessary to have conversation with the gentleman [Alkaline], hence the appeal,” said ACP Watkis, whose Area Four jurisdiction covers the Corporate Area.

“During the course of the day, an eminent lawyer made contact with investigators and negotiated the process to make the entertainer available for investigators. We’re satisfied with the agreement,” ACP Watkis continued.

Morris, 28, was murdered at his home in Maverley, St Andrew, on January 13.

Alkaline, whose given name is Earlan Bartley, appeared on the music radar in 2013. He was known for his alleged tattooed eyes and bleached skin instead of his music.

However, his EP New Level Unlocked debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae Charts in April 2016. The 15-track set has tracks including Champion Boy, ATM and Conquer The World.
