PRODUCTION outfit Black Shadow, comprising Jamaican Troyton Rami and Marcos Mejia, recently signed a deal with US-based Ultra Music. According to Rami, the deal will see the release of productions from Black Shadow’s catalog of songs.
“We just signed a deal with Ultra Records and we’ll be dropping our songs featuring Rupee, Mad Cobra, and others through Ultra,” said Rami.
Tipsy by Black Shadow, featuring Rupee, is the first release under the new deal. The song is featured on the Happy Days Riddim. A video directed by Troyton Rami and Walt Lovelace saw its premiere on Billboard.com last week.

Ultra Music is a worldwide music entity, comprising Ultra Records, which was formed in 1995 by former Polygram and Virgin Records executive Patrick Moxey. Ultra entered a global alliance with Sony Music in 2012, giving its artistes access to Sony’s international marketing and promotional resources.
Ultra, a subsidiary of Sony Music, has achieved global success with artists including OMI, Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Pitbull, Calvin Harris, and David Guetta among others.
Rami explained how Ultra got interested in the project.

“Ultra got interested after we began promoting the Rupee track in the Caribbean where it has been doing exceptionally well. They (Ultra) loved the song, so we kinda made the decision to put the Rupee record through Ultra,” he said.“It’s a joy to be associated with Ultra. It’s an awesome and fantastic feeling to be working with them and having access to all of Ultra’s platforms,” he continued.
Black Shadow scored Billboard success in 2002 with Sean Paul’s Gimmie The Light. The label’s other hits include Pump Up by Sizzla and Press Trigga by Mad Cobra.
