Some vendors who brought snacks, beverages as well as those who prepared soup to sell at the public viewing of Captain Horace Burrell’s body were left disappointed by the low turn out by members of the public.

“One corn me sell from morning,” one vendor, Donna Solan said.

“Business slow. If yu eva look inna di pot dem yu see all a the soup dem in yah same way. See it deh,” she said as she open her pot to show that it was filled to the brim.

The vendor, who says she came expecting to sell off all her goods, says she was disappointed by the lack of support that her business got because of the low-turn out.

“We come out as vendors coming to look a money and when we come nobody no come out. No one. Mi neva did a look fi dis. Me did a look fi seh bus a come a carry people. Mi did a look fi better things,” Solan told THE STAR.

Solan believes that buses should have been put in place to transport persons who wanted to view the body that had no vehicle to journey to the arena.

“Dem shoulda send bus go Half-Way Tree, Portmore and downtown to shuttle the people dem cause not everybody have money fi pay come up here,” she said.

“Anuh everybody working. Yu know seh yu have people here weh can’t find the fare fi come up here because them not working. Dem shoulda organise this better. Captain Burrell deserve better than what they did there now,” she said.

LOW SALE

Another vendor, Janette Tappa, who also had brought igloos filled with beverages and stall stocked with snacks, said she was similarly disappointed in the low sale.

“Mi nuh know if plenty people neva know seh today was viewing and tomorrow was the funeral, but tomorrow when dem come dem nah go can view him body,” she said.

Tappa believes that the turn-out for Burrell’s viewing ranks among the worse support that she has got over the years that she has been a stadium vendor.

“Fi a public viewing me neva expect seh mi did a come see dat,” she said

Another vendor told THE STAR that, “I don’t think a hundred people come to view the body. Me no see a hundred people come here, me a wonder cause me no sell nothing either.

The funeral will be held at the National Arena today. Captain Burrell will be buried at Up Park Camp.
