FORMER NURSE WHO ARRANGED HER JAMAICAN HUSBAND MURDER, GETS LIFE SENTENCE WITHOUT PAROLE!

The woman who was convicted in the United States for hiring a hitman to kill her Jamaican husband has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the NY Daily News has reported.

The contracted killer has received a similar sentence.

Alishia Noel-Murray, 29, and Kirk Portious, 27, were sentenced today in the Brooklyn Supreme Court, in the state of New York.

They were convicted during separate trials earlier this year.

Prosecutor say Noel-Murray wanted to cash in on a US$900,000 insurance payout from three policies for the deceased, Omar Murray.

Noel-Murray said nothing and, at times, rolled her eyes as relatives of the Jamaican immigrant spoke during her sentencing hearing.

“She continues to maintain her innocence,” her attorney Wynton Sharpe was quoted as saying.

But family members appeared satisfied with the sentence.

“Alishia you can spend the next 900,000 years in prison, one for each dollar you thought you’d get for my son’s life,” the newspaper quoted Omar Murray’s cousin, Nicole Barten as saying in a letter she read on behalf of his mother, Eunice Ashley Henry.

“Our family is moving on, but you will always think of us,” Barten added.

Prosecutors led evidence that on February 24, 2013, the victim was shot three times by Portious inside the Brooklyn home he shared with his wife and 10-month-old child.

According to prosecutors, this came after two failed attempts that were orchestrated by Noel-Murray.

The first attempt, prosecutors say, was made in October 2012 when Noel-Murray poisoned her husband’s dinner after she found out that he had cheated on her with a prostitute.

After doctor saved his life, gunmen opened fire on the Jamaican near his home, but missed.

When both plans failed, prosecutors say, Noel-Murray asked her lover Dameon Lovell to hire a hitman, indicating that she stands to collect US$900,000 from the insurance policies she took out on her husband.

Portious agreed to the scheme for a payment of US$3,500, with a $500 down payment.

Lovell, 33, testified in court against both Noel-Murray and Portious in exchange for 15 years to life in prison.
