UNITED STATES-BASED SINGER BARBEE LAUNCHES CLOTHING LINE!

UNITED States-based artist Barbee recently launched a clothing line called African Barbee Collection.

In an interview with the Jamaica Observer, the singjay said it was her love for African and Caribbean fashion that propelled her to starting her fashion line.

“I love dressing up but, more importantly, I like to highlight both sides of my culture. All the pieces have an African and Caribbean feel to them. My team and I hand-picked each of the patterns that are used on each design. It’s edgy,” she told Splash.

Launched in New York in July, African Barbee Collection comprises bathing suits, high-waist pants suits, skirts and dresses.

In addition to her clothing line, Barbee is also promoting her latest singles called Mercy and Whoa.

Barbee, whose given name is Faith Eselebor, was born in New York to a Jamaican mother and a Nigerian father.

At age 16 Bar-bee was as a member of a girl group called Best Kept Secret. The group opened for acts including rappers Jadakiss and Cameron. The group later broke up. This did not damper her musical dreams as, in 2007, she released her first single Miss You, a collaboration with Junior Kelly.

She is also known for her songs including Give It Up; Love You Anyway; Come See About Me, a collaboration with female rapper Trina; and Paddy Cake, featuring Beenie Man.
