BUSY SIGNAL GIVES BACK TO HIS COMMUNITY WITH A BACK-TO-SCHOOL TREAT!

FOR A second year in a row, Busy Signal — through his Busy 20/20 Helping Hands Foundation — hosted a back-to-school community fair at Buxton All-Age School in St Ann on Sunday.

The entertainer hails from that community.

Nearly 400 children showed up for the treat which saw them receiving books, pencils, backpacks, and school supplies valued at $2 million. They also enjoyed rides and bounce-about in the kiddies village.

The dancehall artist spoke to Splash about the gesture.

“It’s always important for people to share… Nobody nuh better dan nobody. We always have the kids in mind as they are the future and whatever I can do for them, I will do it. We a one big family!” he said.

“I feel good and great in myself that I can help… It’s a blessing to do this.”

Doctors Lisa McPherson and Karie Beaumount of the St Ann’s Bay Hospital were on hand to provide free medical checks for children. The adults were not to be left out. They too received free HIV and syphilis checks courtesy of North East Regional Health Authority.

Busy Signal said he is pleased with how willing people were to come onboard.

“It wasn’t difficult in organizing the event. The doctors, when we linked them, were ready, so too were plenty of the sponsors. I also want to thank the entire 20/20 Team for putting this treat together because teamwork makes the dream work,” he said.

Sponsors include Pepsi, CPJ, Jamaica Biscuit Company, Spicy Nice, Lucozade and Ribena, WISYNCO, Best Dressed Chicken, and Island Dairies.

Busy Signal (real name Glendale Gordon) hails from the Buxton community in St Ann. He is known for the hit songs Tic Toc, Step Out, and Nah Go A Jail Again. Watch Out For This (Bumaye), his collaboration with Major Lazer, was a big hit in Europe.
