SOUTH CAROLINA-BASED REGGAE BAND THE DUBPLATES, RELEASES NEW ALBUM “BOX FULL OF STEEL!”

US nine-piece reggae band, The Dubplates are cranking up the promotion of their latest album, Box Full of Steel, with the release of a video for Uh Huh, featuring Yellowman and Papa Robbie.

“We will be stepping up promotions in Jamaica this week. We are loving the early feedback so far to the Uh Huh single which was released alongside a brilliant animated lyric video. We respect Yellowman for the authenticity he brings to reggae and dancehall music. he paved the way in the 1980s for rappers, everybody coming up — he is the real King of the Dancehall,” said David “Big Hair” Brisacher, a producer and core band member.

Box Full of Steel was released on June 23. The album was written, arranged, engineered, recorded, mixed and mastered by Big Hair and Brady “Daddy Brady” Waggoner. Produced on Daddy Brady’s Chalicetown Records imprint, it draws from an eclectic mix of musical influences from reggae rhythms, dancehall, and gritty afro-funk beats. It is distributed worldwide by VPAL Music.

Earlier this year, the outfit rose to chart-topping heights with their new album which peaked at number four on the iTunes US Top Albums and number 9 on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.

The Dubplates

The Dubplates, who hails from Charleston in South Carolina, are signed to Chalicetown Records. The band has been amping up promotions stateside as they were on air with Sirius XM The Joint and Irie Jam Radio early this month. The outfit also performed alongside British Dependency in Long Island Waterfront Park two weeks ago, before rocking out at the Triple S Invitational —the largest pro-kiteboarding event worldwide — with other artistes like Method Man, Redman, Ky-Mani Marley and Mix Master Mike.

“Last weekend, Daddy Brady and Papa Robbie and I took New York City by storm, performing Uh Huh with the true King of Dancehall Yellowman at the Legendary BB Kings in Times Square. It was great, the crowd loved it. We had a hell of a time,” said Big Hair.

Big Hair also coordinated the all-star collaborations with heavy hitters, King Yellowman, Junior Reid, Mix Master Mike (Beastie Boys), Future Fambo, Elephant Man and Zumjay.
