A FUND-RAISING CAMPAIGN IS ON FOR REGGAE ARTIST FELUKE, WHO NEEDS TO REMOVE TUMOR!

A campaign is currently underway to assist the medical expense of reggae singer Feluke.

The entertainer, who is currently battling stage four colon cancer, will need at least US$40,000 to undergo an operation in Mexico to remove the tumor.

In May the singer underwent a “natural treatment” of herbs and nutrition at the Clinica CIPAG in Tijuana.

According to veteran musician Mikey Bennett, Feluke’s health had improved on his return from Mexico.

“A few months ago his body was so run down. He left the island in a wheelchair and came back and was well enough to perform at Reggae Sumfest and other events. He got significant treatment and there is no cancer in his lungs now. He just needs to get the mass removed from his colon,” he told Splash.

Bennett said he and his team are currently planning a concert slated for September 24 to raise the needed funds.

“We are trying to find out the artists who are available to perform on that day. We got permission from Stella Maris Church, but we are hoping to get a bigger venue that can hold at least 2,000 persons. We are seeking to get at least three million dollars to cover his expenses,” said Bennett.

Feluke, whose given name is Denver Smith, began his musical journey at the Alpha Boys’ Home after being abandoned by his parents at a bus stop. His artistic journey continued with The Ashe Company where he honed his skills as a percussionist.

He was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014 and placed on treatment and had the disease under control. However, a few years ago it returned in a more aggressive form, affecting his lungs.
