DESPITE BAD REVIEWS, BEENIE MAN IS INVITED BACK TO ZIMBABWE!

Despite reports that his performance on Saturday at the Harare’s Alex Sports Club in Zimbabwe was below standard, dancehall icon Beenie Man has been invited to return to the country in September, according to his manager Rohan Smith.

“The Zimbabwe government through the Ministry of Tourism has booked Beenie to return for their National Carnival next month (September). Beenie Man will return to Jamaica this weekend to complete back to school preparations for his children and will head back to Zimbabwe shortly after,” he said.

When THE STAR spoke to the entertainer’s girlfriend Krystal Tomlinson, who made contact with his team, she said “Documents for his return to the country were being prepared to finalize the arrangements.”

For the past month, dancehall recording artist Beenie Man has been touring Europe and was also booked for a few shows throughout African states.

On Saturday, the acclaimed ‘king of the dancehall’, took to the stage for the Zim dancehall event, which combines reggae and dancehall infused with traditional Zimbabwean music.

FAILED TO IMPRESS

But a Daily News article said Beenie Man did not impress the numerous fans. It was stated that the musician delivered a ‘lukewarm’ performance which had many of the patrons, prematurely exiting venue.

However, Kudzai Matondo, promoter of 2 Kings Entertainment, the event hosts, said it was a great show, and that “Beenie Man proved to be the king of the dancehall … setting the stage on fire”.

Beenie Man is scheduled to perform at the 2017 edition of the Harare International Carnival. The event will run under the theme, ‘One Love, Our Unity, Our Pride’ and is expected to have representatives from the entertainment industry of over 25 countries.

The Who Am I’ artist was not the only Jamaican dancehall musician performing in Zimbabwe, as Demarco was also booked for an event scheduled for the same date at the neighboring Long Cheng Plaza.
