KINGSTON, Jamaica—
NMIA Airports Limited, operators of the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston, says that based on an advisory from the Jamaica Civil Aviation Authority (JCAA) that a lightning strike impacted their radar system earlier today the Flight Information Region is not accepting traffic until further advised.
The decision includes over-flights and arrivals; however, flights that were already on the ground are being facilitated to depart, NMIA Airports said. No new flights are being allowed to land at this time.
NMIA Airports said that it is monitoring the situation in collaboration with the JCAA.
Passengers are advised to contact the relevant travel agent or airline’s customer care number for further information regarding flight schedules.
