ZIGGY MARLEY IS BACK ON BILLBOARD CHART WITH A LIVE ALBUM “WE ARE THE PEOPLE TOUR”!)

By Kevin Jackson—

EARLY this year, Ziggy Marley embarked on a tour of the United States. Some of its dates are captured on We Are The People Tour (Live) which debuts this week at number five on the Billboard Reggae Album Chart.

It is the ninth solo entry (and his third live) on this chart for 48-year-old Marley. In 2009, Live From Sojo peaked at number four and 2013’s In Concert reached number three.

Fans may be tiring of Marley in-concert albums as the 17-song set opened with only 109 copies sold. It features True to Myself, Tomorrow’s People (a number one Billboard R&B chart hit from 1988), Love is My Religion and Jammin’, originally done by his father Bob Marley.

Also new on the Billboard Reggae Album chart is New Zealand band The Black Seeds with Fabric at number three. Their previously charted titles are 2009’s Solid Ground, which reached number 15 and 2012’s Dust Dirt which peaked at number three.

IamStylezMusic is number one for the fourth week with his debut Back to My Roots. It sold an additional 658 copies for a tally of 3,822 copies.

Damian Marley’s Stony Hill is still struggling. It sold 392 copies last week but holds firm at number two with figures of 12,032 copies.

Morgan Heritage’s Avrakedabra moves up 10 spots to number four with an additional 145 copies. To date, it has moved 1,242 copies in the US.

The resilient Falling into Place by Rebelution is at number eight. This former number one has sold 39,337 copies to date, while Soca Gold 2017 is number nine with 1,318 copies sold to date.

Holding firm at number 10 is the New Kingston Band with Kingston Story: Come From Ya which moved an additional 69 copies to bring its three-week total to just under 415 copies.
