DOCU-FILM “TRAFFICK BLOCKING” CREATES AWARENESS AROUND HUMAN TRAFFICKING!

Traffick Blocking, a 30-minute docu-film creating awareness around human trafficking, premiered at the Palace Cineplex in Sovereign Center, Liguanea, St Andrew, on Saturday night.

Written and produced by the Love March Movement, the film attempts to expose the harsh realities of human trafficking and educate the public on how to protect themselves against this scourge.

“We have chosen to join the efforts to combat human trafficking by partnering with other organizations such as Hawkeye, Jamaica Coalition for a Healthy Society, Lef Wrong Duh Right, and Hope Gospel Assembly to host this premiere today,” said Dr Daniel Thomas, president of the Love March Movement.

The documentary also features interviews with notable experts, including Children’s Advocate Diahann Gordon Harrison.

“Trafficking in persons is recruiting, transporting, transferring or receiving another person for the purpose of exploiting that person, by specific unlawful means for the purpose of forced labor, sexual exploitation and domestic servitude. We consider it our social responsibility to assist in bringing public attention to the reality of human trafficking, and encourage policymakers, youth leaders and opinion influencers to create, encourage, advocate for, and change (where necessary) policies, regulations and legislation which encourages and facilitates reporting,” said Alison Facey, vice-president of the Love March Movement.

She said the Love March Movement was seeking to partner with schools, churches, youth clubs, and other community associations to show the documentary and engage in dialogue on the issue. In addition, the documentary will be available as a DVD for inclusion in personal development/guidance and counseling packages.

One hundred and fifty copies of the DVD have been printed, with plans to eventually distribute over 2,000 copies to like-minded groups throughout Jamaica. Financial support is also being sought to provide complimentary copies of the documentary to all parish libraries and secondary schools within high-risk areas, such as the Kingston Metropolitan Area and tourist districts.

Founded in 2012, the Love March Movement is a Christian-based organization dedicated to representing Christ’s view on sexual sin, sexual purity, and standing in love and prayer for the country.
