NO CONCLUSIONS YET REGARDING VYBZ KARTEL’S ILLNESS, DOCTORS ARE STILL INVESTIGATING!

Doctors are said to be still investigating the cause of Vybz Kartel’s illness. The entertainer has spent the last five days in hospital receiving treatment for what is believed to be a kidney-related ailment.

His attorney, Tom Tavares-Finson, confirmed that the artist was still admitted to hospital.

“I actually saw him this morning,” Tavares-Finson told THE WEEKEND STAR. He, however, declined to say much more about the entertainer, who is currently serving a life-sentence for murder.

It is understood that the deejay had been complaining of pains in his side since last Wednesday.

Dr Elon Thompson, president of Jamaica Medical Doctors’ Association, said the decision to admit a patient who presents with a kidney infection is usually made “if, after receiving antibiotics, the conditions do not change.”

Earlier this week, Hugh Wildman, former director of public prosecutions in Grenada, opined that the admittance would not have been actioned unless the situation was deemed urgent or dire by the correctional facility’s medical staff. Under such circumstances, prison authorities would be required to escort the inmate to a hospital.

“If the [prison] doctor says so, they will have to do it. They make the call to say whether an inmate demands or requires immediate hospitalization. They could not defy the medical opinion and not get treatment for an inmate. That is a judgment call by the medical professionals, not by the layman,” Wildman said.

“If they defy medical opinion and keep him away from medical facility, and something happens … if an inmate dies, the Government will be liable. Seriously too.”

Vybz Kartel is currently serving a life sentence for the murder of Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams.

Despite hospitalization, Kartel’s name continues to appear on newly released music. Popular producer Diplo recently teased a new track on his iTunes radio show which seems to feature young New Zealand superstar singer Lorde, and long-time collaborator Vybz Kartel.

According to Billboard writer Kat Bein, based on the teased clip, you can hear Lorde’s distinctive vocals singing a smoky throwback to Yellowman’s classic 1984 track and album, Nobody Move, Nobody Get Hurt.
