Tickets are now officially on sale for a reggae concert celebrating the 40th anniversary of Bob Marley’s legendary Exodus album.

In 1999, Time magazine named Exodus the best album of the 20th century. Its 10 songs are Natural Mystic, So Much Things to Say, Guiltiness, The Heathen, Three Little Birds, Exodus, Jamming, Waiting in Vain, Turn Your Lights Down Low and One Love.

The one-night-only concert is set to take place at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles, California, on November 1 and is already racking up a stellar line-up. According to an article on Grammy.com, along with the late reggae icon’s sons Ziggy and Stephen, Jim James, Tom Morello, Gary Clark Jr, Aloe Blacc, Cyril Neville and Citizen Cope have been booked for the event.

The Exodus 40 live concert follows Ziggy Marley’s ‘restatement’ reissue of his father’s LP, dubbed Exodus 40: The Movement Continues. That compilation featured lead vocal out-takes, ad-libs and more from Marley and the Wailers’ Exodus recording sessions. It was released on June 3.

Bringing The Event Together

Music director Don Was has been working on bringing the event together. “After listening to Ziggy’s restatement of Exodus 40: The Movement Continues, the album struck me as something so powerful and rarely seen live in its entirety,” said the internationally acclaimed Was. “I am thrilled to be a part of this show with Ziggy and Stephen and perform these songs for the fans.”

Ziggy’s We Are The People Tour live album includes several tracks from Exodus, in addition to his own songs.

More artists are to be announced as soon as they are confirmed for the event. Tickets were made available via Ticketmaster on Friday, September 29.

Exodus was recorded in London, England, when Marley left Jamaica after the shooting at his 56 Hope Road, St Andrew home in December 1976, ahead of the Smile Jamaica concert.
