CAROL MINAJ (NICKI’s MOM) HIGHLIGHTS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE WITH CONCERT, OCTOBER 28, IN BROOKLYN, FEATURING MELBA MOORE, THE MIGHTY SPARROW & RAYVON!

Music lovers in Brooklyn, New York are in for a treat on Saturday October 29th when a Caribbean celebrity mom stages an empowerment concert to bring focus to domestic violence awareness. The event is being called ‘Repairing The Bridge’ and the featured artists include R & B and gospel music icon Melba Moore alongside soca’s biggest legend The Mighty Sparrow plus reggae star Rayvon.

The event is being hosted by singer and philanthropist Carol Maraj, mother of hip hop superstar Nicki Minaj, through Carol’s foundation, the Carol Minaj Foundation.

Carol Minaj

Sensational songbird and R & B icon Melba Moore has been a huge all-time favorite for New Yorkers and a staple on classic soul radio stations nationally. She comes from a talented musical family and is an award winning actress. Known for her Broadway, contemporary soul/R&B, pop rock, jazz and gospel songs, Moore’s versatility can be heard on smash singles You Stepped Into My Life, Pick me Up I’ll Dance, Love The One I’m With and A Little Bit More. She will be sure to have patrons grooving while thinking about love, instead of abusing their partners.

Rayvon

The Mighty Sparrow is the unrivaled king of Calypso and he has enjoyed a dazzling career that spans over 40 years of recording smash records and thrilling performances. This legend is in a class by himself. He will use his musical arsenal to get the crowd fired up as he unleashes crowd favorites like Congo Man, Mr Walker, Saltfish, Big Bambo and Obeah Wedding.

Mighty Sparrow

Brooklyn based reggae crooner Rayon may be best known for his string of successful combination songs – Angel, In The Summertime & Big Up that were recorded with ‘Mr Boombastic’ Shaggy but as a solo artist he is just as potent having stuck good musical notes with hit singles One N Only, Games We Play, My Bad, 2-Way and his social commentary piece titled no Guns No Murder.

Melba Moore

Among the other acts booked to perform on the concert which takes place at Roulette Intermedium, 509 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn are soca star Lyrical, one of the most sought after artists of our generation; Singing Francine and DJ Platinum Sound. There will also be a special presentation which organizers are not revealing just yet. The only clue is, “it’s not to be missed!”

Carol is passionate about the issue of domestic violence because she is a survivor; now devoted to the life of advocacy on behalf of victims of domestic abuse everywhere. This unfortunate situation has molded her into the strong, powerful woman she is today.
