CHINESE ARTS TROUPE THRILLS JAMAICANS!

Members of the Shenzhen Arts Troupe from China take the stage to deliver an iconic message to the audience.—

Much to the delight of a capacity audience at the Chinese Benevolent Association’s (CBA) Center in St Andrew, a 21-member contingent from Shenzhen, China, the Shenzhen Arts Troupe, recently delivered an inspiring performance of both traditional and modern Chinese acts.

The event was hosted by the CBA in cooperation with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Jamaica. The show was also celebrated in honor of the 68th anniversary of the founding of The People’s Republic of China.

Arriving in the island fresh from a performance in Trinidad and Tobago, the troupe’s visit to Jamaica was led by Madame Chai Fengchun, head of Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration of Shenzhen Municipality, and Zhang Jinwen, director, Arts Division of Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration of Shenzhen Municipality.

The Kingston gala performance combined acrobatics, songs and dances, instrumental music, as well as a magic show which was especially enjoyed by the numerous children in the audience.

It was family entertainment at its best, translated as ‘New Concept Acrobatics: Dream Chasing – Spacewalk’ where performers Wu Dong and Wan Wenshang displayed highly difficult acrobatic techniques using revolving props, demonstrating strength and beauty.

According to the concert’s program, through the two male acrobats with mesmerizing music, male prowess was shown through muscle and strength.

A fitting culmination of the troupe’s Jamaican visit was their rendition of Bob Marley’s world-famous One Love, a tribute to iconic Jamaican reggae music.
