IRWINE CLARE TO RECEIVE THE AMCHAM AWARD!

Irwine Clare—-

Irwine Clare Sr, founder and chief executive officer of the non-profit organisation, Team Jamaica Bickle (TJB), will be accorded the Global Spotlight Award at the American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica’s (AMCHAM) seventh Business and Civic Leadership Awards Gala, to be held today at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel.

The honor comes at an opportune time as this year’s Gala also doubles as a celebration of AMCHAM’s 30th anniversary.

The premier awards for corporate Jamaica, the annual event highlights businesses, individuals and non-profit organisations that are driving and achieving economic and social progress in Jamaica through ethical leadership and stewardship and community-building activities.

Clare’s United States-based entity, TJB, assists athletes, coaches and officials from Jamaica and the Caribbean who participate in the Penn Relays, which is held in Philadelphia annually.

Since its inception 23 years ago, TJB has raised more than US$2.5 million in support of athletes and sports programs in Jamaica. It is the first Caribbean organisation to be a participating sponsor of the Penn Relays.

AMCHAM’s Global Spotlight Award is in recognition of the tremendous work he has done for Jamaica and Jamaicans in the diaspora.

Clare is also the co-founder and managing director of the Caribbean Immigrant Services (CIS) Inc, which was established in 1995 with the ultimate goal of mobilizing and empowering the Caribbean diaspora.

Since then, the CIS has successfully helped thousands of Caribbean nationals obtain US citizenship and, consequently, voting rights.
