TV HOST YANIQUE “CURVY DIVA” BARRETT COMES UNDER FIRE FROM CHRISTIANS, WHO WANT HER TO SEEK GOD!

TV host-turned-dancehall artist Yanique ‘Curvy Diva’ Barrett has again come under heavy fire from ‘Christians’ on social media, who believe she needs to repent and begin to seek Christ.

Having heard the plight countless times before, Barrett has decided to finally address the Christians calling for her repentance. The entertainer is simply asking them to offer a word of prayer rather than judgments.

In an interview with THE STAR, the Curvy Diva pointed out that her decision to embrace her curves and the title of sex symbol does not mean she lacks a relationship with God.

“The post was a simple post. I had on clothes so for them to go so hard and tell me I need to find Jesus is too much. Is weh dem know bout me and God,” she questioned.

“Sometimes, they just need to give me a break. They are too hard, and sometimes things nuh called for. I have a relationship with God. I grew up Adventist, so regardless of being a dancehall artist, I’ll always have that connection with God. I go to Church, but it’s not even about going to Church, it’s more about having a relationship with God. I pray before I go on a dancehall stage, and knowing that I have a relationship where I can call on God is more important to me than saying I’m a Christian or not.”

The Lifestyle singer explained that too often some Christians, in trying to get people to see the ‘light’, force their way of life on to people when they should just be praying and correcting them in love.

“Dem need to not judge. The Bible say don’t judge lest ye be judged, so they need to not bash me into being a Christian or going to Church. That’s wrong,” she said. “Bashing somebody and trying to publicly say: ‘Boy, I think you’re doing too much’, if that’s your way of winning me and convincing me and you think that will work, then go ahead. I will tell you that it won’t work.”

Using Minister Marion Hall, formerly known as Lady Saw, as an example, the Curvy Diva said the best bet for Christians in trying to win souls for the Kingdom of God is to lift people up in prayer.

“Lady Saw was the raunchy of the raunchy, and she turn her life over. The Queen of Dancehall turn Christian. That should tell you not to judge anybody. Every now and then I do dress a little risque, but that a my sin then. Everybody fall short. Pray for me as I pray for myself,” she said. “Don’t judge me because you don’t know what the future holds and what God has in store for me. Let me make that decision on my own.”

Meanwhile, the highly anticipated music video for her breakout hit, Lifestyle, will premiere this weekend. Back in September, the Curvy Diva and her team said no expenses were spared for the visuals as they wanted people to get a glimpse into the life of the popular media personality.
