The launch of Julie Lady Virtue Sealy’s long-awaited debut album, Reggae My Endless Love, took place last Saturday night at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Center before a small but appreciative audience which was treated to thrilling performances from a line-up of local and regional entertainers.

First on stage, Amber Orano, dressed in a yellow shirt and white pants with brown boots, captivated the audience with Nah Leaving which showcased her vocal range. She was followed by Melody Man and Daniel who had the audience grooving to their performances.

However, it was the performance of Twin Man who really got the audience going as he impressed with his melodic voice. He was rewarded with rousing applause from the audience.

Next on stage was Barbados Music Award winner and lead singer of the Escorts, Shirley Stewart, a familiar voice from the Spouge era back in the 1970’s. He sang two classics Who Ain’t Looking Good and Walk Away From Love that spontaneously prompted many  to either sing along or take to the dance floor.

The audience which included Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, veteran entertainer Richard Stoute, other entertainers and calypsonians including Jimmy DanBlack PawnBlood and Colin Spencer, thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

Stewart set the tone for the next act – Warrior King from Jamaica – whom many had come to see. He truly was value for money. Warrior King came on stage wearing a stylish red and blue outfit and sang many of his hits including Jah Is Always ThereNever Go Where Pagans Go and Power To Chant.

At one point, he jumped from the stage into the crowd asking persons to sing along with him. He emphasized the importance of a strong family unit and brought his wife Leslie- Ann and son Isiah on stage. To applause from the audience, he then serenaded his wife with Virtuous WomanEmpress Divine and Your Love Is Amazing.

When it was time for his set to finish, the audience shouted that they wanted more and more Warrior King gave them. He did a high energy performance of his hit single Can’t Get Me Down which the audience enjoyed immensely.

This set the tone for an energetic performance by the lady of the moment, Lady Virtue, that showcased the project she has been working quietly on for six years. She flawlessly sang the title track from the album, Endless Love, demonstrating her vocal range as well as her passion.

Members of the audience cheered as she sang about her first love reggae. Another highlight of Lady Virtue’s performance was when she sang Sometimes Lord accompanied by iconic folk group Sing Out Barbados. She truly encompassed the song and at one point went down on her knees as she sang.

However, the event was not all about Lady Virtue as she presented a plaque to Shirley Stewart in recognition of his outstanding distribution to music in Barbados.

Lady Virtue then had a costume change where she traded her orange dress for an army green shirt marked Army, an army green hat and a black pants as she sang Jackel and Hyde. The song speaks about the ways in which persons pretend to be your friends but really, they would like nothing more than to see you fall. The song resonated with the audience as she got roaring applause.

After her performance, Lady Virtue shared her feelings about the launch with Bajan Vibes.
