The entertainer’s attorney Valrie Neita-Robertson said she is disappointed with the verdict and vowed to appeal it.

“I will definitely appeal as I believe in my client’s innocence. That is the problem when you have a seven-member jury instead of 12…but Jamaica accepts anything. Every other civilized country has 12 jurors,” Neita-Robertson told the Jamaica Observer.

Upon hearing judgement, Ninjaman smiled before stating: “A so it guh sometimes,” while being led away in handcuffs.

“My client is a fighter and he will endure,” Neita-Robertson added.

Meanwhile, as news of the verdict made the rounds, members of the entertainment fraternity were left reeling by the court’s decision.

“Oh boy, this mash up mi day now. I can’t believe, and I feel really sorry for him and wish the end result was different,” said Macka Diamond.

Mr Vegas described Ninjaman as one of the greatest lyricist in the industry.

“It is really sad as Ninjaman is one of the greatest on a musical level. The system set a way, so one has to be careful what they put out in the universe, as it will come back to haunt you,” he said.

The entertainer, along with his son Jahneil, will be sentenced on December 15.

They were charged with the March 2009 murder of Ricardo Johnson on Marl Road in Kingston. He was granted bail in 2012. The case had seen 17 trial dates and 23 mentions.

The trial involved seven witnesses, including one who testified that a group of men, led by Ninjaman, entered a yard on the day in question. It is said the deejay fired two shots at him and he had to flee the premises.
