PROMOTER O’NEIL HENRY, 36, IS CHARGED AFTER 7 PATRONS ARE SHOT AT UN-PERMITTED FISH FRY IN HANOVER!

HANOVER, Jamaica — The police say they are following strong leads after seven people were shot and injured at an unpermitted fish fry held at a bar on Barnes Lane in Mount Pellier in Hanover this morning.

Reports from the Sandy Bay police are that about 1:15 am, a dispute developed between two of the patrons and firearms were drawn. The dispute escalated and a shootout ensued. Seven people were later found suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital and are reportedly undergoing treatment except for one who has since been released.

The police said the incident has led to the promoter of the event, who did not apply for a permit, being charged for breaches of the Noise Abatement Act and the Spirit Licences Act with the offences of operating without a permit and opening beyond opening hours.

He is 36-year-old O’neil Henry, self employed of Barnes Lane, Mount Pellier. Henry is scheduled to appear in the Sandy Bay Court House on Thursday, January 11, 2018.

The police are reminding the public that the law requires them to have a permit where events are being held and that there will be a zero tolerance approach where people are found in breach.
