ONE NEW RADIO STATION AMONG SEVEN LICENSES ISSUED BY JAMAICA’S BROADCAST COMMISSION!

A new island wide broadcast radio licence was granted to S&B Communications Limited, which will operate as CREST FM was one of seven media licences issued by the Minister of Information on the recommendation of the Broadcasting Commission of Jamaica last year.

Also included in the seven was Tarrant Baptist Church, operators of limited area station, TBC-Radio which had its licence renewed and coverage area expanded to include areas in Middlesex and Cornwall.

Universal Media Company Limited, operators of NewsTalk 93FM, also had its licence renewed.

JACS Cable Limited, which was the sole new cable operator during the period, was granted a licence to operate in St Catherine.

The licences of Santastic Cable, operators in St. Ann and Cable One, operators in St Mary and Clarendon, were renewed.  CTL Cable Limited, which operates in the Kingston and St Andrew zone varied its existing licence to include a further 15 zones within the parish.

Sound Broadcasting and Subscriber Television Service (Cable) licences are issued under the Broadcasting and Radio Re-diffusion Act of Jamaica.

The licences are valid for a period of 10 years provided there is strict compliance with the terms and conditions of the licence, the Act and the Television and Sound Broadcasting Regulations.
