SONGS including Dye Dye by Macka Diamond, the Billboard-charting Click My Finger by Erup, and I-Octane’s emotionally driven Lose a Friend , are some of the hits which have made at one of the most competitive studios locally, Truckback Records.
The label celebrates 15 years this year.
Truckback Records has started the new year with some amount of success thanks to Hallelujah by Tony Curtis, which features Charly Black on the remix. The song has been getting a lot of attention on radio and in the dancehall.
“Tony Curtis wrote the lyrics after we decided how we would like the song to come across for everyone to relate to. With the acoustic vibe, we added more instrumentation featuring a Fretless bass guitar, Electric guitar and piano in some areas. We then decided to title the song Hallelujah,” said Truckback’s Steve Locke.
“Charly Black heard it playing at Weddy Weddy while Tony and myself were there, and he approached the singer, asking if he could be a part of the song. Charly was overwhelmed by the spirituality vibe of it and knew the collaboration would be awesome. He requested the addition of drums because there weren’t any present at the time. Without hesitation I went to the studio and did the addition. I sent it to him and in return he added his lyrics and sent the file,” Locke continued.
The song tackles several issues including the high crime rate across the island.
“Charly complimented the song very well. Great energy which dancers can dance to. It’s definitely an upbeat song which will make you move,” Locke added.
