“STONY HILL” GETS SALES AND CHART BOOST FROM GRAMMY WIN!

In the aftermath of the 2018 Grammy Awards, at which it took home the prize for Best Reggae Album, Stony Hill has gained four places on the Billboard chart of top reggae albums. The Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley set has now crossed the half-year mark on the listing, as its number-two ranking on the chart valid up to February 3 marks its 27th week on the ranking.

While there is no second place at the Grammys, the pre-award polls on the official website indicated that Chronixx’s Chronology was the other main contender in the category. And although it did not win, Chronology has also made gains after the awards, albeit not as spectacular as the Jr Gong set. as it has moved from ninth last week to eighth on the current edition of the chart.

Top of the heap is Marching Orders (The Green), which moved up three places. Trailing Marley in the top five are Good Life (Collie Buddz) at three, the EP Sister Carro (Henrici) at four and the various artistes compilation Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica at five. All three sets have lost ground from last week.

On the other hand, all the albums from numbers six through 10 have enjoyed gains. The number six set, Roots Party (Tribal Seeds) was seventh last week and SOJA’s Poetry in Motion is seventh this week, up from eight last week. In eight is the Chronixx album and ninth is Rebelution’s Live at Red Rocks, which is not only the longest stayer on the chart currently at 58 weeks, but is this week’s greatest gainer. Wrapping up the chart is the new entrant at number 10, the Folklore Riddim various-artistes EP. The EP is a soca set with four tracks, including the beat by Advokit Productions.
