STING & SHAGGY FOR TODAY’S SUPER BOWL “TAILGATE” PERFORMANCE!

Fresh from his performance at the Grammy Awards in New York last Sunday, diamond-selling reggae artiste Shaggy is set for another high-profile performance alongside British rocker Sting.

The artiste known for his hits including Boombastic, and It Wasn’t Me, will perform his current collaboration with Sting, Don’t Make Me Wait at the Super bowl — the finals of America’s National Football League championship between the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles, set for US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on today.

Speaking with the Jamaica Observer, Shaggy explained that he will be doing the tailgate performance, ahead of the game.

“Sting will be doing a 15-minute set, but they will just be airing one song which is out single together. They called Sting and he got in touch with me even before we started this whole project. We just had the single at the time , we didn’t even think about doing the album at the time. So we have known for some time that we were going to do this. But it’s great for me… it’s 17 million people so you’re not gonna hear me complain.”

Shaggy also has no complaints against the American media outlet which questioned his recent performance on the Grammy Awards show.

“ The Grammys was a great vibe, fantastic energy. James Corden basically wanted Sting to come and sing Englishman in New York, because he’s an Englishman in New York, especially with the Grammys being back in New York. He wanted us to do the skit and since we’re doing the album together they said we could do our single, because it could fit within the time allotted for the performance. It’s all about promoting the single and getting it out to people.

“There was some negative. There are other persons who were nominated such as Lourdes and did not get a performance so I can understand, but we have a song that we are putting out and we took the opportunity that we were given to promote it and we did our best. and apart from those who were negative, the majority was positive and our numbers were soaring. We are looking forward to this album 44/876,” said Shaggy.
