Mighty reggae stable Trojan Records is set to toast its 50th anniversary later this year.
The label opened in 1968 at a time when black British culture was scarcely acknowledged by the mainstream, but it became one of the most vital labels in the country.
Pushing reggae to undreamed of levels in the UK, Trojan released a string of classic singles and launched countless careers in the process.
Trojan toasts its 50th anniversary this year, with plans for new releases, live events, and a full book.
The 50th anniversary box set – pre-order LINK – drops on July 27th, featuring 4x 12” LP, 6CD, 2 x 7” vinyl, an album covers book, 7” adapter, poster, patch and slipmat.
Laurence Cane-Honeysett has penned The Story Of Trojan Records, which is set to contain hundreds of photographs, record sleeves, labels and archive material.
With a host of special parties planned, 2018 is set to be a very special year for Trojan. Long-time fan, DJ, and broadcaster Don Letts comments:
“This is the label that scored a shed load of chart hits and provided a soundtrack that united the youth, black and white on the dance-floor – I know I was one of them.
