Diana King—

International Jamaican singer Diana King has spoken out about Jamaica’s correctional system, after incarcerated dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel released a new album. In a social media post, King blasted the authorities for allowing convicted entertainers the ability to record while in prison.

Although she did not make specific reference to Vybz Kartel, the post follows the deejay’s release of his latest project titled To Tanesha a dedication to his long time partner.

Gladstone Wright, music producer and conceptualizer of the Rehabilitation of Offenders through Music program at the Tower Street Adult Correctional Centre, told the Jamaica Gleaner that the deejay is not a participant in the program. To Tanesha was released last week by Short Boss Muzik and Vybz Kartel Muzik.  It features entertainers Jada Kingdom, Slimatic, Jesse Royal, and Sikka Rymes.
