Ramblings 12/21

Welcome once again to my ramblings, today it is on the political front, at home and abroad…Last night I took the time off to listen to the debate between Jamaican prime minister Andrew Holness and Opposition leader Portia Simpson-Miller, I guess I was expecting too much, because I came away feeling empty! it was such a boring debate, no sparks, no tantrums, no controversies, no nothing, just so-so dry so…Holness was holding back not wanting … Read entire article »

Gentleman Calls For More Message In The Music!

Gentleman Calls For More Message In The Music!

From The Jamaica Observer Cecelia Campbell-Livingston Friday, December 16, 2011 At age 11 a young boy, Tilmann Otto in his homeland Osnabrück, Germany, heard the sounds of late artistes Dennis Brown, Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Alton Ellis and Delroy Wilson from David Rodigan on British radio, and it touched something in his innermost soul. That young boy made a discovery which would later change the way he saw music. “I realised there is music which goes beyond entertainment,” he … Read entire article »

Ramblings (12/13/2011)

On this December 13, I send out birthday greetings to General Trees, and ace musician Roland “Nambo” Robinson. Trees has been a long time favorite of mine. His days with Black Scorpio with Shoka Shine as selector, and with sparring partner Lord Sassasfras, will be treasured forever! I remember when I first brought them to the Biltmore Ballroom in Brooklyn. It was in the midst of the summer of 1986, and man, Biltmore was corked to … Read entire article »

Ramblings (12/11/2011)

Like the old saying goes, “What’s not dead don’t throw it away” because you never know, did you see the debate last night with those crazy republicans? I think Newt Gingrich won hands down! It was just this past summer when things were not looking good for him, half his staff quit on him, his donors dried up, and he was just about written off…but he stood his ground and kept on pushing, now he leads in the polls in just about every state. I really believe he’s gonna get the nomination for the republicans, and Barack gonna win his second term! For whatever reasons, the republicans just don’t want Mitt Romney, and the others are just too right-wing for a general election…can’t wait for November. Any word on when is … Read entire article »

Ramblings (12/9/2011)

Welcome….After 2 years of watching the Republicans beat up on President Obama, it appears he is now ready to fight back, he made that wicked speech in Kansas the other day, and since then, the man been on a roll, now I am kinda restoring faith in him again, for years I’ve been turned off by his gentle handling of the assaults from the Republicans and the Tea Party….I was wondering, rather, questioning my wisdom in voting for him, after all, Hillary was my original choice…hope he will stick to his guns and stop this “working together” crap…the republicans main goal is to make sure he fails..they say it demselves!  Oh, the idea of having Hillary running as his vice president is all fine with me, as a matter of … Read entire article »

Ramblings (12/7/2011)

Welcome to my 2nd blog. This is where you will find me for the time being…then again, where else am I going to go? As my advisors have said, this blog can lead to so many, many, opportunities. Well, we will see about that…while watching MSNBC about 7 months ago, they were interviewing this 52 year-old African-American business woman, who was one of many senior staff members that was let go from this major corporation (don’t … Read entire article »

My First Blog

My First Blog

After a few years of encouragement and promptings from loved ones and close friends, I’ve decided to enter the world of the blogger. I am told many people still want to know my opinion on the current issues of the day. Honestly though, I was a bit intimidated by this new technology. As an old-schooler, I am so accustomed to my telephone, turntables and Cd players. However, I realize that to survive, one has to … Read entire article »
