RAPPER AKON PROVIDES SOLAR POWER TO TWO MORE AFRICAN NATIONS!

 Senegalese-American rapper Akon (Photo: AFP)— Clichéd rappers spend money on “bling” and cars, but Senegalese/American artist Akon is looking skywards to splash his cash, investing in solar power projects across Africa. The rapper added The Gambia and Cape Verde to his Akon Lighting Africa initiative this weekend, a fund that already helps populations who struggle to connect to limited or absent national grids in 25 African countries. BRAZILIAN SINGER NEGRA LI, TAKES ON A REGGAE SONG!

Brazilian rhythm and blues singer Negra Li has recorded a reggae song, ‘Sunshine’, which features her husband, Jr Dread. Producer of the track, Adrian Hanson, CEO, Donsome Records, explained how the collaboration came about. “Listening to Jr Dread on the track, I felt it needed a woman’s touch. AKON LAUNCHES “SOLAR ACADEMY” THAT WILL SUPPLY ELECTRICITY TO 600 MILLION AFRICANS!

Superstar Akon announces his Akon Lighting Africa initiative at the United Nations headquarters Senegalese-American pop singer Akon, whose Akon Lighting Africa initiative aims to bring electricity to some of the 600 million Africans who currently lack it, announced the launch of a new “Solar Academy” for the people of Africa. The institution, scheduled to open this summer in Mali, will train African engineers and entrepreneurs with the skills needed to develop solar-powered electricity systems and micro grids.
