PRODUCER FITZROY FRANCIS LEADS THE WAY AT MIGHTYFUL 13 RECORDS!

 Roots act Andrew Bees (left) and Mightyful13 Records’ principal, Fitzroy Francis.— WHEN Fitzroy Francis started his record label just over four years ago, he wanted to revisit the songs he heard artists like Black Uhuru and Junior Reid made in their native Waterhouse. Francis is the man behind Mightyful13 Records, which works with mainly roots acts such as Andrew Bees and Hugh English. The latter’s cover of The Beatles’ Hey Jude is the fledgling company’s latest release. HERE COMES SINGER HUGH ENGLISH!

  Jamaican Ras Tafari recording artist Donovan Hugh English, popularly known as “Hugh English” was born on November 12th, 1965, in Trench Town, Kingston 12. He grew up in the musical community of Waterhouse, Kingston 11 with his aunt. While growing up in Waterhouse, he met a lot of friends such as singer Andrew Bees (lead singer of Reggae’s first Grammy winning Black Uhuru), the late Wayne “Sleng Teng”Smith, Hugh Mundell, singers Junior Reid, Half Pint, King Everald, and “Dub Inventor” the late great King Tubbys, just to name a few.
