JAMAICA WINS TOP AWARD IN CARIBBEAN SCHOOL DRAMA FESTIVAL IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO!

The ceremony was held Friday at Southern Academy of the Performing Arts.— JAMAICA captured Best Production Award for Jonkanoo Jamboree at the recent Caribbean Schools’ Drama Festival 2015 in Trinidad and Tobago. The awards ceremony was held at the Southern Academy of the Performing Arts in San Fernando. Written by Aston Cooke, Jonkanoo Jamboree, a comedy, also won awards for Best Music, Best Choreography (Danar Royal), Best Actress (Melessa Vassell), Best Supporting Actor (Jadon Barton-Williams), Best Supporting Actress (Jhada Ann Walker), and Most Promising Actress (Nardia Scott). “I LOVE JA” IS THE 2014 FESTIVAL SONG!

   By Rory Daley— Rushane ‘Deep Jahi’ Sanderson (left) won the 2014 Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Jamaica Festival Song competition on Saturday night with his entry I Love JA. Here he accepts his trophy from chairman of the JCDC Aston Cooke.— WITH his song I Love JA, Rushane Sanderson — 2012 Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall champion — added another major accolade to his burgeoning musical career by winning the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission (JCDC) Jamaica Festival Song Competition at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, St Andrew, on Saturday night. “I never thought I’d win in my wildest dreams,” Sanderson told the Jamaica Observer.
