THE JAMAICA INTERNATIONAL REGGAE FILM FESTIVAL RETURNS FEBRUARY 16 -19!

 Barbara Blake-Hannah— AFTER a four-year intermission, the Jamaica International Reggae Film Festival returns February 16-19 at Devon House in St Andrew. Festival Director Barbara Blake Hannah said, “Film is an excellent way to promote Jamaican culture, especially music, and this is a good time to do so, as UNESCO has just declared Kingston a Creative City of Music. So, a sparkling film festival is a good way to illustrate the reason for the city’s designation.” Blake Hannah told the Jamaica Observer that there is currently a call for entries. She said new elements have been added to make the festival more appealing. These include booths promoting reggae-related products such as music, books, craft items and food. By Richard Johnson—  Barbara Blake Hannah— FOR filmmaker and author Barbara Blake-Hannah, the recently launched Rasta Radio provides a much-needed space where the issues, ideas and opinions relating to Rastafari can be discussed. Located on www.ustream.tv/channel/rasta-radio-ja, Blake-Hannah is the conceptualiser of the Internet radio station. Launched one week ago, she contends it is a long time coming. “I have always observed that there is no radio, television or newspaper and generally no space geared towards Rasta. With the renewed emphasis on Rasta with the changes to the law as it relates to ganja, the time was right to provide a forum where we could talk to each other about the issues which affect us as a group,” she explained.
