GOSPEL SINGER BARBARA JONES DIES AT 62!

Barbara Jones – Screenshot taken from youtube video—- Gospel singer Barbara Jones died at 3 a.m. today at the University Hospital of the West Indies. The 62-year-old artist who is known for songs such as Gospel Bells,Thank You Lord For Your Blessings died from acute leukemia. Her husband Hector Lewis told The Gleaner that his wife contracted the chikungunya virus (chik-V) in September, just before she left for England to do some shows. “She had to cancel everything, the chik-V worsened her condition and she was hospitalised for two weeks,” he said. Jones returned to Jamaica at the end of September where she got the official news from her doctor that it was now acute leukemia. BARBARA JONES GETS HER GROOVE BACK IN BRAZIL!

 By Cecelia Campbell-Livingston— Lloyd Parks and Barbara Jones— IT’S been over 30 years since Barbara Jones ended her secular career. But last month, the singer’s past caught up with her during a visit to Brazil. “I didn’t know my songs were so popular there,” said Jones, whose Jamaican hits include a cover of Angel of The Morning, Woman in Me, Soul and Devotion and Dream Lover. She added: “People always told me, I should go to Brazil as they love me there, but I saw it first-hand when I arrived in the country on Mother’s Day weekend.” Jones, a devout Christian, told the Sunday Observer that she received a warm welcome at the Teresina and Belem airports.
