Delroy Wilson—- Music practitioners and connoisseurs of Jamaican popular musichave often categorised the island’s music into four main areas: ska, rocksteady, reggae, and dancehall. According to them, ska was popular from 1962 to about the middle of 1966; rocksteady from late 1966 to 1968; reggae from 1969 to 1983; and dancehall from 1983 to the present time. There were other forms of Jamaican music like version, dub, and roots reggae, which, although given due recognition, were never numbered among the main genres, perhaps because they were merely spinoffs from them. But ever since the announcement was made a couple of weeks ago, there have been several persons whose smile has been turned upside-down by the decision. Black Dynamite, a suggestive adult cartoon series, is based on the 2009 film of the same name. AUDITIONS ARE OPEN FOR MUSICAL BASED ON THE LIFE OF BOB MARLEY!

Directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, the musical will look at the impact Marley had on Jamaica and the world. More a dozen roles are up for grabs in this musical scheduled for May 13 to June 14 in Baltimore, Maryland. The event was titled Peter Tosh — Activist and Pan-Africanist: A Focus on the Man, The Music, The Message and The Herb. “Peter Tosh’s body of work centred on freedom and justice. His campaign for the legalisation of ganja was central to his views about justice and his personal experiences with the law enforcement forces of Jamaica,” said presenter Dr Clinton Hutton. EEK-A-MOUSE USES SOCIAL MEDIA TO BLAST THE MARLEYS!

However the singer, who is known for singles like Wa Do Dem and Police in Helicopter, has finally decided to take his ranting to social media to express his grouse. Tosh, who was killed September 11, 1987, would have turned 70 today. It is unlikely his hard-hitting songs would impress today’s record company executives, who are into bouncy beats and acts who grab tabloid headlines. Copeland Forbes, Tosh’s former manager, says the artist never conformed to music industry trends. “Peter was never into the commercial business of the music.
