VP RECORDS’ AFFILIATE VPAL SOCA, LOOKS TO THE EASTERN CARIBBEAN!

INFLUENCED by the success of soca artists led by Trinidadian singer Bunji Garlin, VP Records affiliate VPAL has signed distribution deals with artists from the Eastern Caribbean (EC). Donovan Williams, VPAL’s general manager, said albums by Tony Prescott/Shurwayne Winchester, Machel Montano, Pternsky and K Kay Joseph of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as St Lucian Teddyson John, will be released by VPAL Soca this year. It is the busiest schedule for VPAL Soca which was launched in 2014. AS THE PROMOTER, DANCEHALL STAR MAVADO LEADS THE PACK TO CLUB AMAZURA, IN QUEENS!

 Movado —- Dancehall DJ Mavado has never been identified as a regionalist, though he has performed throughout the Caribbean and collaborated with soca artists. This weekend, the singjay reaches out to his Caribbean brethren as promoter of League Weekend, a two-day show at the Amazura Nightclub in Queens, New York. Friday’s opening night is a dancehall showcase with Mavado as headliner, alongside Spice, Vershon and I-Octane. On Saturday, it is an all-soca affair.
