“DANCEHALL LOSING GROUND IN EUROPEAN NIGHTCLUBS” SAYS CE’CILE!

By Leighton Levy— Ce’Cile—  Dancehall entertainer Ce’Cile has expressed concern that Jamaican dancehall acts might be losing ground to African entertainers in European nightclubs. The recording artist is currently in Europe promoting her single Push It, and she is expected to perform at a number of clubs in the next few weeks. It is her first gig in Germany in two years, and what she has found has not been comforting. “The audience has changed, and there are a lot more Afro beats than dancehall being played now, of which we need to take heed,” she said. DANCEHALL OVERTAKEN “Afro beats seem to have overtaken dancehall and by a big leap, which was unheard of. STR8 EDGE CLASSIC DANCERS WIN THE 2015 WORLD REGGAE DANCE CHAMPIONSHIP IN KINGSTON!

The outfit emerged winners in the 10th staging of the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission-promoted World Reggae Dance Championship held at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, last Wednesday. “We are just overjoyed. This is a great feeling. We entered this competition three times before and we just feel good to win. We entered so many dance competitions and never won. RECORDING artist Ce’Cile hopes to give fans more than they’ve become accustomed to in her latest album entitled Still Running. The 16-track set, the singer’s third studio effort, was released on October 14. Co-produced by Vinny Vindetto, John FX and Ce’Cile , the project is distributed by Zojack Worldwide. “It’s not a reinvention of me or anything, but Jamaica has never got a chance to hear a more rounded and acoustic side of me. DESPITE ITS RIGID RELIGIOUS CUSTOMS, THE MIDDLE EAST IS WARMING UP TO REGGAE!

  Kenya Don, main organiser of Reggae Beachfest—– ONE of the largest countries comprising the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is Dubai. Its flourishing economy has made it the cosmopolitan centre of the Middle East. While most of its older citizens observe rigid religious rituals, a younger generation has embraced western pop culture including Jamaican music. A gauge of dancehall/reggae’s popularity in the oil-rich country is Reggae Beachfest, a monthly event showcasing sounds from Jamaica. The series started last year in the city of Dubai. Its seventh show is scheduled for June 7, the last before taking a break to observe Ramadan, a Muslim period of prayer and fasting. It resumes in September. CHRISTOPHER MARTIN HEADS TO ZIMBABWE AND OTHER AFRICAN NATIONS IN AUGUST!

The Cheaters Prayer hit-maker revealed his Harare show during a recent interview on Winford Williams’ popular Jamaican television show, Onstage.
