It was on this weekend that Grove Broadcasting Corporation officially went on air all over Jamaica with the world’s first 24/7 all-reggae FM radio station IRIE FM. I was not only responsible for the naming of the station, along with chairman Karl Young, but acted then as the vice-chairman of Grove Broadcasting Corporation and served the station in the capacity of legal and business advisor. I also worked with the initial team of Karl Young, Clyde McKenzie, Bob Clarke and Dennis Howard in formulating the all-reggae programming content of the station. CHAD YOUNG, CEO OF JAMAICA’S IRIE FM, DIES AT 27!

Chad Young, the chief executive officer of Irie FM and its sister station, Zip FM, and has died. He was 27. Chad was left to manage Grove Broadcasting Limited, which owns Irie and Zip, after his father, Karl Young died.
