SINGER BOBO ZARO AND DJ CONTRACTOR HEAD TO NIGERIA FOR THE ANNUAL BADAGRY DIASPORA FESTIVAL!

 Bobo Zaro— Jamaican artists Bobo Zaro and Sean ‘Contractor’ Edwards have been confirmed for the annual Badagry Diaspora Festival in Lagos, Nigeria. The week-long event is an observation of African culture, the trans-Atlantic slave trade, and its abolition. Bobo Zaro (born Ludlow Chin) is best known for the song Pain, a collaboration with Capleton. Contractor heads the marketing company that bears his moniker. For Contractor, the Badagry Diaspora Festival is more than a show. “I see music opportunities in oil-rich Nigeria and look forward to this cultural exchange,” he said.The Badagry Diaspora Festival was first held in 1999 in the town of Badagry, located in Lagos. MUSIC MARKETING CONSULTANT, CONTRACTOR’S “FACT FINDING” EUROPEAN TRIP!

  Cecelia Campbell-Livingston— Sean “Contractor” Edwards– HAVING worked as a marketing consultant with leading reggae record labels and events, Sean ‘Contractor’ Edwards’ latest project is largely sociological. Edwards, who heads Contractor’s Marketing, left for Europe in mid-May on a fact-finding mission that took him to France, the United Kingdom and Spain. He is analysing the market there to see what Jamaican acts, and music, are popular on the continent. “In Europe, for the summer, there are 70-80 reggae music festivals, while in Jamaica there is only one which is Sumfest, so Europe is the market for the summer,” Edwards noted. Based on his observations, not a lot of contemporary reggae is played in Europe. “With the exception of Sean Paul, you don’t hear a lot of Jamaicans on mainstream radio.
