 Flippa Mafia—- It was not a good year for some Jamaican entertainers (and a former beauty pageant contestant). Several were hauled before the courts or jailed. Here is a look at some of those cases. Flippa Mafia After a three-year legal battle, flamboyant deejay Flippa Mafia was sentenced to 25 years in prison in the Camden Superior Court in New Jersey in June.  In December last year, the entertainer, whose given name is Andrew Davis, was found guilty of first-degree distribution of cocaine, second-degree money laundering, and second-degree conspiracy. He will serve 12 years before being eligible for parole. Flippa Mafia was also ordered to pay a US$250,000 anti-money laundering profiteering penalty. BUSINESS MAN/PROMOTER COREY TODD GOES ON TRIAL AUGUST 22!

 Corey Todd— Nightclub owner Corey Todd is to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on August 22 for his alleged attack on dancehall deejay Devin Di Dakta earlier this year. The businessman is facing charges of malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm. He, however, pleaded not guilty when he appeared in court last week. The court heard that about 2:30 am on January 22, Devin Di Dakta (given name Anthony Clarke) and some friends went to Todd’s Taboo nightclub on Constant Spring Road in Kingston. PROMOTER/BUSINESSMAN COREY TODD ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH ASSAULT OF DANCEHALL ARTIST!

By Livern Barrett—  Popular businessman and entertainment promoter Corey Todd has been arrested and charged with assault occasioning bodily harm. Todd was arrested in connection  with an incident in which recording artiste Devin Di Dakta was assaulted at one of the businessman’s night clubs. Todd was reportedly pointed out during an identification parade. According to the police, the businessman was given station bail following a request by his attorney Peter Champagnie. Champagnie declined to comment when contacted by The Gleaner. It is reported that in January this year, Devin Di Dakta, winner of the 2015 staging of ‘Magnum Kings and Queen of Dancehall’, was forcibly removed from the Taboo nightclub by security personnel. Popular businessman Corey Todd was shot and injured by a single gunman in an early morning gun attack a few minutes after 5 this morning, just as he was leaving his popular nightclub in Montego Bay, St James. Todd opened up a new gentlemen’s club, Taboo: The Ultimate Adult Playground, and a club, Vanity, at the Fairview Shopping Centre in Montego Bay in October. He was shot two times; one bullet grazed his side while the other shattered his right arm. Todd’s security personnel immediately shot and killed the assailant. Todd is undergoing surgery at a hospital right now to repair the damage caused by the bullets.
