According to the musician, JAVAA has already tabled a proposal to the government requesting that the Emancipation Park in New Kingston be used as the location. The former junior tourism minister told THE STAR ONLINE that a letter containing the damning allegations about him was circulated at a People’s National Party (PNP) meeting on Sunday. “It’s not the first time rumors have been brought against me and it won’t be the last.  Popular figure Damion Crawford— Former People’s National Party (PNP) member of Parliament Damion Crawford has been given his own radio program. The nationally popular figure, who lost his bid to represent the party in the February 25 General Election, made the announcement via social media a short while ago. Crawford said: “A now the place mash up… they gave Damion Crawford a radio show. Him alone and the mic.. Crawford & Company and ur my company. “DOWNTOWN KINGSTON ENTERTAINMENT ZONES ARE SET FOR FEBRUARY” SAYS ENTERTAINMENT MINISTER DAMION CRAWFORD!

Damion Crawford —- Junior minister in the entertainment ministry Damion Crawford says he expects that by next month car parks in downtown Kingston will be used as entertainment zones. Entertainment zones are areas that will be dedicated exclusively for entertainment events and represent an attempt to balance the need for venues that will not violate the Noise Abatement Act. Last year, Crawford announced that discussions were underway with the Urban Development Corporation, National Environment and Planning Agency and the Kingston and St Andrew Coporation to establish the Palisadoes and sections of downtown Kingston as the first entertainment zones. The minister’s assertions came at the launch of Carlene Davis’s album launch — Dripping Blood — at the Redbones Blues Café, on Thursday. He says the entertainment industry should be considered among those that can contribute to the economic advancement of Jamaica. NO GENERAL CONSUMPTION TAX (GCT) ON TEMPORARY IMPORTS TO JAMAICA – GOOD NEWS FOR THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY!

By Daraine Luton— Importers of goods for temporary use are set to benefit from the removal of general consumption tax (GCT) on such items starting Wednesday when the amended GCT Act takes effect. The provision, according to Senator Sophia Fraser-Binns, will be a major boost for the cultural and entertainment sub-sectors, which now pays GCT on such items. “The filmmaker, the person who will be bringing in goods for any kind of entertainment activity, now knows that there is no double taxation taking place. They know that they can bring in that which they need for their event without having to concern themselves about taxes,” Fraser-Binns said. The overhaul of the GCT regime is a requirement under Jamaica’s four-year extended fund facility with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
