MR. EASY TO RELEASE NEW SINGLE “GONE A LEAD!”

 Mr Easy– GONE A Lead, the new song from singjay Mr Easy, will be released March 7. It is produced by Notnice Records and taken from the album Dancehall Chronicles. Born Ian Dyer, Mr Easy was signed to Quincy Jones’ Q record label early in his career. BABY CHAM TO RELEASE HIS THIRD ALBUM “LAWLESS” IN OCTOBER!

Produced by hit-maker Dave Kelly, the 14-track set had an initial release date of June 2015, but was shifted to accommodate Cham’s hectic touring schedule. “Dave Kelly is very flexible. We’ve been recording in hotel rooms and on the tour bus. Our manager is very good at strategically picking spots for us to tour, so normally I’d do three weeks on the road then for that last week, I’d be in the studio with Dave getting as much work in,” Cham told the Jamaica Observer. IT’S THE RETURN OF DEE JAY DADDY SCREW!

 By Kevin Jackson—  Daddy Screw—- IN the 1990’s, deejay Daddy Screw was a hot dancehall commodity, chalking up a string of hits. Not much has been heard about him in recent years. The Jamaica Observer caught up with him last week in Denver, Colorado, where he resides. “I’m here in Denver working on some new tracks. I have some songs coming out so listen out for them,” said the 48-year-old toaster. It has been 20 years – plus a day – since Buju Banton’s fourth studio album, ‘Til Shiloh, was officially released through Loose Cannon (an Island Records subsidiary) on July 18, 1995. It was three days after his 22nd birthday. Much of the album’s content was starkly different from previous full-length sets such as Mr Mention. (BABY) CHAM TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM “LAWLESS” IN JUNE!

 By Kevin Jackson—  Baby Cham— IT’S been nine years since dancehall artist Cham (formerly Baby Cham) released an album. His last, Ghetto Story (2006) sold over 200,000 copies worldwide. Come June, Cham is expected to release his third, entitled Lawless. Lawless will feature 11 tracks and production work from Cham’s mentor, Madhouse’s Dave Kelly. The album was recorded in Florida, except for a collab featuring Mykal Rose and Bounty Killer which was done in Jamaica. Lawless starts with the first single I Am Hot, which was released on March 24. An accompanying video was also released on that date. “The single I Am Hot has been doing really well. It’s a sexy song that the rude bwoys will buss a blank for. TAKING IT EASY WITH MR. EASY!

By Howard Campbell— Mr. Easy THERE was no hotter jam in the summer of 1997 than producer Dave Kelly’s Joyride. One of the artists who helped make it a dance favourite was singer Mr. Easy. His Funny Man (Strange Things) was one of the hits that rode the Joyride which appeared on Kelly’s prolific Mad House label. Mr. Easy returns for another crack at the charts, and insists he is up to the task. “As an artist yuh always have to reinvent yuhself an’ keep trying and keep working. Whatever the people want yuh have to gravitate to it,” he said. One way to keep fresh in the dancehall is to work with in-demand producers.
