Dexta Daps— Dancehall artist Dexta Daps was on Wednesday freed of criminal charges when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate’s Court. His co-accused Essan Richards was also freed. Dexta Daps, whose given name is Louis Grandison, was charged on April 27 at the Sangster International Airport following a scuffle with a group of police officers, videos of which went viral on social media. He was charged with assault occasioning grevious bodily harm, resisting arrest, and using indecent language. Both men were freed after attorney Peter Champagnie pointed out certain circumstances of the case to the court and suggested the may be dealt with through mediation. The entertainer, whose given name is Louis Grandison, is facing charges of obstructing the police; the use of indecent language; resisting arrest; and assault occasioning bodily harm, following an altercation he had with the police at the Sangster International Airport in St James, on April 27.
